27. Robert C. Haines "Bob"

Robert's yearbook description:

"A diligent studious individual who merits our admiration for his respectful and attentive silence during courses. Being endowed with hurling ability, he will probably some day succeed the famed "Jesse"".

Parents: Charles Finley Haines (1877-1966) & 
                Pearl M. Davis (1882-1965) 

Robert married George Bernice Clark (1921-1968) and they had 4 children- Roberta, Robert Jr., Paulette, and Rebecca Lynn. In 1950, Robert was working as a stock traunt in a househall appling factory (?), living in Dayton with his wife and 3 children. 
Robert died at the age of 73 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. 





28. James F. Hale "Snoops"

James' yearbook description: 

"Happy-go-lucky, devil-may-care- that's Jimmy. You can't resist such a personality, one in which the stutter plays a leading role".

died: 20 Oct 1999 in Tampa, Florida, age 82 

Parents: James Frederick Hale (1893-1989) & 
                Leona Fleeta Hale (1891-1942) 

On 16 May 1972, James married Mary Alma (1912-1971) and they had 4 children. In 1950, James was working as a clerk at a rubber factory, living in Dayton with his wife M. Alma, 3 children- Kathleen, James and John and his father James Sr.
James died at the age of 82 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. 





29. Frank J. Heider "Frank"
*Frank is my 2nd cousin, 2x removed 

Frank's yearbook description: 

"Here's a man who can take it! Imagine having to go through life being called Junior! Be that as it may, "Frankfurter" is the future world's premier meat magnate. Just lamp the soulful countenance. It mirrors a heart of gold".

Parents: Frank Joseph Heider (1891-1949) & Zeona Yvonne Bainter (1893-1970). I couldn't find any marriage or children information for Frank.



30. Wilbur G. Heil "Will"

About 1946, Wilbur married Anna Florence Heil (1923-2018) and they had 3 children. In 1950, Wilbur was working as a mail carrier in Dayton, living with his wife Anna and daughter Mary. Wilbur died at the age of 69 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. 





31. Edward C. Hempelman "Eddie"

Parents: Edward Hempelmann (1876-1962) &

Edward married Erline Schaeffer (1924-1994) and they had at least one daughter: Janet Sue (1953-2020). Edward died at the age of 90 and is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. 



32. Edward B. Hickey

On 02 Dec 1943, Edward married Vivian Sifferman (1918-2005) and they had 7 children- Michael, James, Eileen, Patricia, Bridget, Margaret and Kathleen. In 1950, Edward was working as a paymaster for a machinery helper (?), living in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife Vivian and their 3 children: Margaret, Mary K and Michael.  
Edward died at the age of 87 and is buried in the Parma Heights Cemetery in Parma Heights, Ohio. 





33. John T. Hickey "Jack"

Parents: Thomas A. Hickey & Florence M. Hayes 

I did find a John T. Hickey, born about 1917 in Ohio in the 1950 census record- living in St. Louis, Missouri- living in a college dormitory- Clemens Hall- not sure if this is the right John. 

John never married or had children. He died at the age of 82 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. 




34. Clarence F. Hilgeford "Red"

Clarence's

"Red is generally quiet but when he does speak his remarks contain real humor. He has a likable personality".

Parents: Jacob Frederick Hilgefort (1873-1943) & 
                Catherine Bernadine Drees (1878-1933) 

In Jan 1940, Clarence married Charlotte Anna Provonche (1918-1997) and they had 2 children. In 1950, Clarence was working in the Armed Forces, living in Cass, Oklahoma with his wife Charlotte and son Charles. 
Clarence died at the age of 69 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. 





35. Francis X. Hoelscher "Snort"

Francis' 
yearbook description: 

"Probably called so because of his locomotive inclinations. Unusually "choo-choo" minded, Snort's ruling passion is the desire to become a freight-yard hand. He used to clock the trains entering the Union Depot and compare every day".

On 26 Apr 1943 in San Antonio, Texas, Francis married Eillene Marie Hemsteger (1921-2012) and they had 4 children. In 1950, Francis was working as a traveling salesman for a wholesale paper boxes for florists, living in Dayton with his wife and 2 children: James and Karen. 
Francis died at the age of 74 and is buried in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. 





36. Harold J. Janning "Hal"

Harold's

"Hal goes at everything he does with a vengeance. When a man can concentrate on constructing cross-word puzzles he must have will power. Hal does just that; he never quits".

Harold Harold married Mary Elizabeth Schmeider (1918-1997) and they had 4 children. He died at the young age of 40 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

17. Robert A. Dickson "Bus"


Robert's yearbook description: 

"Ye olde classe cutte-uppe! This lad, a budding army man, possesses an inimitable knack of manifesting his presence with unsolicited witticisms and mischievous pranks. Bus is constantly palpitating with excess energy".

Robert died at the young age of 22 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.




18. Francis B. Dineen "Frank"


Francis' yearbook description:

"Unless you crave annihilation, never address this boy as Francis. Dinny has a remarkably independent spirit. He'll brook no opposition. His horoscope indicates an aptitude for accomplishment, such as exploring the Gobi Desert".

On 27 Aug 1945, Francis married Kathryn Angela "Toddy" Krumholtz (1917-1999) at St. Agnes Church in Dayton. Together, they had 8 children. In 1950, Francis was working as a foreman at a publishing house in Harrison, Ohio, living with his wife and 3 children: Mary, Julie and James. 

Francis died at the young age of 44 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery.





19. Harold J. Drescher "Master" 


Harold's yearbook description:

"If silence is golden, surely Master has experienced its brightest luster. In the future Harold May be heard from, for so silent a man must soon say something wife".

On 25 Nov 1952, Harold married Mary Elizabeth Hoyt (1923-1990) and they had 2 children. 

Harold died at the age of 84 and is buried in the Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in Dayton, Ohio. 





20. Albert J. Early "Al"


Albert's yearbook description:

"Al is a living paradox. Would rate headlines if he were ever ahead of time, but one thing cannot be denied--he always gets there! Excellent public speaker, and active in school work".

On 10 Nov 1945, Albert married Dorothy Hoertt (1913-1975) and they had at least one son- Michael J (born 1947) and a daughter- Mary Elizabeth Early (1949-1949). He married secondly on 03 Sep 1983 to Irene Townsley (1923-2010). 
Albert died at the age of 83 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. 



21. George Ernst "Brocco"


George's yearbook description:

"Brocco is named thus because of his resemblance to that famed buccaneer. Although his disposition is not piratical, he is known for his aggressive traits and willingness to share his ideas as the inopportune moment".

Parents: Walter Ernst (1883-1918) & 
                                                Sophia F. Wahlrab (1880-1967) 

George died at the young age of 51 and is buried in Saint Josephs Catholic Church Cemetery in Mariposa, California. At the time of his death, he was a fireman for the U.S. Navy Reserve. I couldn't find any marriage record for George.





22. Edward J. Flanagan "Ed"

Edward's yearbook description: 

"A regular fellow, chock-full of humorous sayings that oftimes make profs wrinkle their craniums. He possesses an amiable disposition, and is truly interested in his science course".

Joseph married Rose S. Sisari (1917-1996). In 1950, he was working as a clerk for the railway services, living in Dayton with his wife Rose and 3 children: Patricia, William and  Steven. 

Joseph died at the age of 87 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

23. Edward E. Gadomski "Toby"


Edward's yearbook description: 

"Toby has the happy faculty always to be doing something else when he should be doing one thing. When he shakes the cubes we wonder if he is studying the next memory lesson for English".

In 1950, Edward was working as a proprietor for a retail liquor store, living in California with his wife Elaine and their two daughters Johann and Susan. Edward died at the age of 80 and is buried in the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park in Hayward, California. 


24. Carl W. Gaeke 


Carl's yearbook description: 

"Carl is always the life of the party with his witticisms. His smile is irresistible, especially when he cracks one in class".

died: 05 Oct 1981 in Dayton, Ohio, age 64

Parents: Carl Joseph Gaeke (1891-1965) & 
                Frieda L. Mensching (1891-1954)

In June 1942, Carl married Alberta Irene Hecht (1922-2017) and they had 7 children. In 1950, Carl was still living in Dayton, working as a tool designer for a rubber molding factory. He was living with his wife Alberta and two of their children Carol and William C.

Carl died at the age of 64 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.


25. Walter J. Glaser "Geesunk"


Walter's yearbook description:

"Geesunk is not inclined towards formal studies but he will go anywhere to see and learn something new. Walt will settle down to serious business some day and then watch him go". 

I found all this information on a Walter Joseph Glaser and realized in his obituary states that he graduated from St. Mary School....so I'm not sure it's him--- and his photo SOMEWHAT looks like him- I'm just not sure on this one.... There is another Walter Glaser but that one doesn't match up either....

On Findagrave.com, Emma Sommerhalter (1903-1974) is listed as his wife. I don't know if they ever had children. 

Walter died at the young age of 28 during WWII while in Germany. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. 









26.. Wilbur F. Haag "Haggie"


Wilbur's yearbook description: 

"Introducing the most dynamic speaker since Bryan! Haggie is all of that. A voracious reader, he is an authority on every known subject, including the gentle art of husbandry".

Parents: Andrew Joseph Haag (1884-1942) & Clara Gertrude Blaes (1887-1974) 

Wilbur married Mary Helen Morrison (1916-1984) and they had 6 children including 3 who have died- Kathleen Marie (1950-2013), Beverly Ann (1952-2010), and Paul Philip (1960-1977). In 1950, Wilbur was working as a photographer for a printing die machine VSAA in Wayne, Ohio with his wife Mary and son Robert. 
Wilbur died at the age of 73 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

7. Earl J. Brady "Jay"


Earl's yearbook description: 

"Earl comes from a family of basketball players and truly he has lived up to its traditions. Without him the varsity was like a chicken with it's head struck off".

On 14 Jun 1941, Earl married Myrtle Jean Elizabeth "Jean" Buzzell (1921-1993) and had at least 2 children: Michael J and Patricia J. Earl died at the age of 59. 



8. Eugene J. Brinck "Bud"


Eugene's yearbook description: 

"Bud's greatest ambition is to be an iceman. Allegedly, he is exceedingly popular with the weaker sex.".

On 04 October 1941, Eugene married Leona Mickey Myers (born 1918) and they had 2 daughters. Eugene died at the age of 79, not sure of his burial.


9. Eugene A. Brockman "Gene"


Eugene's yearbook description:

"Gene has come up from the ranks since he started at Chaminade. During this last three years he has hit the Honor Student class and so parades with the intellectuals".

Parents: Henry B. Brockman (1884-1957) & 
                Ida Francesca Bucholz (1884-1985) 

Eugene served in WWII, was a prisoner of war for 2 1/2 years. He married Virginia Louise "Ginger" Heyne (1936-2019) and they had 3 children: Lori, Kathleen and one son: Joseph Eugene (1971-1978). Eugene died at the age of 89 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. 


10. Robert O. Buckwalter "Bucky"


Robert's yearbook description:

"Ol' Rough and Ready in person. Bucky always come through in a burst of glory; why, he almost captured first place in a track event with one day's training.".

Robert married Margaret P. Schumacker (1917-2011) and they had at least 2 children: Marybeth and Robert. In 1950, Robert was working at a Rubber products factory as a schedule clerk in Dayton, Ohio. 
Robert died at the age of 80 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Troy, Ohio. 




11. Fred L. Budde "Boots"


Fred's yearbook description:

"A quiet chap is Boots. He prefers to listen and learn. Usually when he speaks he says something. If you want an example of a gentleman, watch Boots".

In 1944, Fred married Mary Frances Wimmers (1918-2010) and they had at least two children- Carol and John. In 1950, he was working as an auditor eng division for the U.S. Air Force Base.




Fred died at the age of 81 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.



12. William H. Buehrle "Willie"

"When Willie gets married and comes in at three A.M. depend on him to have the right explanation; he's a city slicker if there ever was one".

On 17 May 1941, William married Betty Jane Jaspers (1917-2007) and they had 6 children- William III, Nancy, Dave, Don, Mary and John. In 1950, William was working as a Collector Salesman for a book publishing company in Dayton, living with his wife and four children. William died at the age of 88 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.  


13. George E. Burgulis "Horsie"


George's yearbook description:

"Horsie is a rough and tumble youngster who will furnish all the power when you would have objects moved. A heart as big as a house is George's".

In 1940, George married Elizabeth J. "Betty" (1918-2006) and they had 2 children: Arlene and G. Thomas. George died at the age of 64 and is buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.  


14. John J. Caldwell "Fish"

"Always at his books, Fish always sets the good example. Watch him some day as head of a Billy Goat ranch in his native land, Texas".

Parents: Joseph A. Caldwell & Ruth E. Bennett

In 1940, John was living in Harrison, Ohio, working as a clerk. He lived with his wife Dorothy and daughter Patricia. By 1950, he was living in Beaver Creek, working as a carpenter for a construction company, living with his wife Dorothy and children- Patricia, Robert and Carol. Looks like he might not have made it back to Texas to head a ranch as he had wanted to in high school. 


15. Louis A. Chmiel "Schmaltz"


Louis' yearbook description: 

"Love of the beautiful is this artist's inspiration. Schmaltz, although of an artistic temperament, is practical too; he will tend to business matters just as soon as he will sit down to sketch".

Louis married Rita M. Brinkman (1920-1988) and they had at least 6 children including two who have died- Patricia (1942-2024) and Mikey (1953-1953). In 1950, Louis was living in Dayton, working as an interior decorator for a retail department store. He lived with his wife Rita and 5 children: Patricia, Louis, Catherine, Linda, and Mary.

Louis died at the age of 53 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.




16. Paul A. Davis


Paul's yearbook description: 

"A cheerful disposition, an ambition spirit and witty sayings are the predominant characteristics that make Paul an outstanding personage. As a worker he has no equal".

Paul was married to Annabelle Peffers and they had 4 children: James, Michael, Patrick and Elizabeth. In 1950, Paul was working as a route supervisor for a wholesale candy company, living in Dayton with his wife and two sons. Paul died at the age of 83 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
