52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks- Week 51- John Mendenhall (1659-1743)
John Mendenhall- my 10th Great Grandfather
Born: 30 Oct 1659 in Ramsbury, England
Parents: Thomas Mildenhall III (1630-1682) &
Joane Strode (1634-1682)
Siblings:
1. Margery (1655-1742)
2. Thomas IV (1657-1729)
3. Joane (1661-1731)
4. Benjamin (1662-1740)
5. Stephen (1664-1721)
6. Moses (1666-1738)
7. Aaron (1669-?)
8. Mary (1670-1728)
On 14 Sep 1681, while still in England, John bought 300 acres from William Penn in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
John immigrated to America in 1685 aboard the ship: Unicorn with 4 of his siblings. They all made Concord, Pennsylvania their home.
John and his family were Quakers and were members of the Concord Quaker Meeting-- here's a picture of what the house looked like in 1900:
Family:
In 1685, John married Elizabeth Maris (1665-1691), daughter of George Maris (1632-1705) & Alice Wilsmith (1632-1699).
John and Elizabeth had 3 sons:
1. George (1686-1758)
2. John Jr. (1688-1765)
3. Aaron (1690-1765)
They had 15 Grandchildren.
On 02 Aug 1708, John married Esther Maddock (1661-1713), daughter of Nathaniel Maddock (1642-1680) & Alice Nichols (1644-1685). They didn't have any children.
John died on 19 Aug 1743 in Newark, Delaware at the age of 83. He is buried in the Concord Friends Orthodox Burial Ground in Concordville, Delaware, Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth married John Mendenhall (1659-1743) in June 1685.
Inkberrow, Worcestershire, England
Inkberrow is a village in Worcestershire, England that dates back to the 8th and 9th century. By the 15th century, it is believed that the spelling was Ingtebarwe, but by the 16th century, it was Inkebarrow.
A popular restaurant in Inkberrow- Old Bull Inn
Located at Village Green, Inkberrow WR7 4DZ, England
It is an old English pub with great food and is where the Archers radio series is based.
