52 Ancestor's Biography- Mary Kime Hyman

Mary Kime seemed to live a very simple life. She was born in Jeffersonville, Clark, Indiana on 05 Feb 1859 and she lived there her whole life.

Mary was my 2nd great-grandmother on my father's side. She was the daughter of William Martin Kime (1819-1871) & Cynthia Ann Bell (1834-1901). Mary had 5 siblings that I could find:

1. Henry H. (1851-1903)

2. Anna Eliza (1854-1932)

3. Kate (1856-1873)

4. William Martin (1861-1939)

5. John Huffman (1867-1939)

On 03 Nov 1874, Mary married James W. Hyman (1854-1926). He was a cooper, son of Daniel Andrew Hyman (1810-1860) & Mary Bedleman (1817-1895). 

James & Mary had 11 children, only 9 lived past their birth (according to census records).

4. Myrtle May Hyman (1884-1953)  (my great-grandmother)

5. Stella E. "Della" Hyman (1890-1962)

7. John Huffman Hyman (1895-1967)

8. Katherine Belle "Katie" Hyman (1897-1956)

9. Henry Ruben Hyman (1899-1951)

Mary died at the young age of 58 on 14 Oct 1917. Cause of death was Chronic Nephritis.

Mary and her husband are both buried in the Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

I wish had more pictures of either Mary or her husband. I find myself lucky to have even just one!

James W. Hyman - My 2nd Great-Grandfather

James was born on 07 Jan 1854 in Clark County, Indiana to German Immigrant parents- Daniel Andrew Hyman (1810-1860) and Mary Bedleman (1817-1895). He had at least 4 sisters: 

1. Mary A. (b. 1839)

2. Henrietta (1840-1918)

3. Ellen (b. 1846)

4. Matilda Amelia (b. 1850)

James was a Cooper- made barrels.

James died at the age of 72 on 20 Aug 1926 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Cause of death- Organic Heart Disease. He is buried in the Eastern Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Last week, I wrote about the surname Hyman. My 2nd great grandfather- James W. Hyman (1854-1926) married Mary Kime (1859-1917). Her parents were William Martin Kime (1819-1871) & Cynthia Ann Bell (1834-1901). Mary's great-grandfather- Johannes "John" Keim (1754-1815) was born in Germany.
