52 Ancestors: Week 41: Moses Mildenhall (1666-1738)
Moses Mildenhall- My 10th Great Grand Uncle
Born: 24 Nov 1666 in Ramsbury, Wiltshire, England
Parents: Thomas Mildenhall III (1630-1682) &
Joane Strode (1634-1682)
Siblings:
1. Margery (1655-1742)
2. Thomas IV (1657-1729)
3. John (1659-1743)
4. Joane (1661-1731)
5. Benjamin (1662-1740)
6. Stephen (1664-1721)
7. Aaron (1669-?)
8. Mary (1670-1728)
When Moses' father died, Moses inherited his father's house and the land his father owned in and around Marridge HIll, England. The amount of land was not mentioned in the Will.
Despite owning land and a home, Moses immigrated to America with a few of his siblings. I don't know if he sold the land and house before moving, but before arriving to America, he purchased 500 acres of land along the Brandywine River on 05 Sep 1685 from John Ewen. The land had originally been purchased from William Penn in 1682.
The Mendenhall siblings who immigrated to America (Margery, John, Benjamin, Moses & Mary) all settled in Pennsylvania. All of them except Moses stayed in America. After a year, Moses went back to England. I don't know if he just had no success here or just missed him home land, but he didn't make it here long. He returned to England and on 02 May 1691, Moses married.
Family:
Moses married Elizabeth Bacon on 02 May 1691 in Reading, Berkshire, England.
Elizabeth: b. 10 Jun 1673 in Lambourne, Cornwall, England
d. 31 Aug 1737 in Marriage Hill, Wiltshire, England
Moses and Elizabeth had 9 Children:
1. John (1692-1762)
2. Thomas (1694-1739)
3. Stephen (1696-1724)
4. Mary (1698-?)
5. Sarah (1701-?)
6. Joseph B. (1703-1800)
7. Elizabeth (1707-?)
8. Hannah (1707-?)
9. Moses Jr. (1717-?)
Death:
Moses died on 19 Dec 1738 at the age of 72.
