So, I understand the "norm" isn't to add as many people to your tree as you can find. Most people just stick to their direct line and maybe they'll branch out to aunts, uncles, 1st cousins, etc. I branch out as far as I can go. Everyone is different in how they "genealogy", respect mine and I'll respect yours :)
Findagrave.com is a great resource tool that I use often. However, that being said, I use it merely as a starting point or a stepping stone...a secondary source. I add it and confirm it then or go back to it later. Because anyone and their mother can add information, it shouldn't be used as a primary source or used as fact.
In August 2017, I started using Findagrave.com to add more people/cousins to my Mendenhall family tree. I went from A-Z - starting with Alabama. On the main page on the website where you can search for a person or cemetery, I typed "Mendenhall" into the "Last Name" search bar and then in the "Cemetery Location", I typed in "Alabama". I also put a check mark to include "maiden name". When clicking "search", I was able to see all Mendenhalls buried in Alabama (that is on the website of course).
I would go person-to-person on the list from that state and (1) see if they were already in my tree, (2) or if they weren't, locate the relation and add them. I would also add spouses and children found on the site as well. It took me until May 14, 2018 to complete this project, so almost a year.
Here are my findings for all states:

34/45 found in my tree, added 91 persons
~Alaska- 4
Was unable to find any relation to these individuals- I kept notes in my notebook about what I was able to find about them in case I wanted to go back for more research later.
