One Person at a Time...Cora
~Even though I have a lot of people in my family tree, I also have a lot of "holes" that need more research. Over the next few months, I am going to attempt to patch up those holes by doing research one person at a time- starting at the beginning of the list~
Today's name: Cora
Before Research:
Cora married Ernest R. Carey (b. 1879)- my 4th cousin, 4x removed- they had at least one son- Calvin Carey.
After Research:
Cora Smith was born on 02 Nov 1889 in Kansas. She died in Mar 1981 in Brown County, Kansas. Her parents were Isaac Thorton Smith (1865-1909) & Mary Ellen Hostetler (1869-1921). She had 6 siblings:
Ethel (b. 1888), Lela (b. 1890), Pearl (b. 1895), Milton (b. 1899), Elsie (b. 1904) and Eugene (b. 1906).
Cora married Ernest Reagan Carey (1879-1952)- son of Calvin Carey (1846-1935) & Eliza Ann Reagan (1843-1909). Ernest and Cora had 1 son- Calvin J. Carey (1910-1997).

I'm not sure if this is the right Calvin J. Carey for your family tree, but I found a "Cal" Carey, born November 22, 1910 in Bakersfield, California who served in the US Navy in WWII (Storekeeper 2nd Class); no specific commands are given, only that he reported to San Pedro and was honorably discharged at Terminal Island on October 18, 1944. At least in the 1980s, he worked as a publisher in Los Angeles.
