Wednesday's Portrait: Abbie Mendenhall



Today's Portrait:

Abigail A. "Abbie"  Mendenhall
b. 1848 in North Carolina



When looking at old photos, I think it's interesting to go with the quote- Don't judge a book by it's cover- same thing for photos- don't judge a person by it's picture- this one is included in that. I'm not sure what I think of Abbie. On one hand, she looks super strict and overbearing. Rules, rules, rules. But there's something about her face- her eyes, her "smile" that make me think otherwise. For whatever reason this is, I feel like she looks gentle in nature, plain and simple. I think my mother kind of looks like her- especially the thin lips- definitely not the nose. :)
