Saturday Night Fun~Great-Grandparents
Time for another "Saturday Night Genealogy Fun!" with Genea-Musings!
Tonight's challenge: Did/Do Your Children Know Any of their Great-Grandparents?
1) Dana Leeds on the Enthusiastic Genealogist blog asks: "Did/Do Your Children Know Any of their Great-Grandparents?"
2) I thought that would be a great Saturday Night Genealogy Fun question--so please share your response with us in a blog post of your own.
3) For extra credit, or in case the answer is "No," then please answer the question for yourself, or your parents.
My son is almost 3 years old and he does "know" one of his great grandparents- his great grandma- Jane. I wrote know in parentheses because he IS only almost 3 and we've always lived in a different state than his great grandma Jane- so he doesn't really "know" her.
I, on the other hand, didn't know any of my great-grandparents. I barely knew my grandparents for that matter. Most of mine died when I was baby or before I was born. I did kinda know my grandmother Dorothy Potchik ('nee Hendricks)- you can read about her Here. She died in 2010, so when I was 26 years old, but I never really knew her. She always lived in Ohio, where I was born and we moved from there when I was 4. I think I'd only seen her once since the move and that was in the 6th grade.
My parents didn't know their great-grandparents either. All of them died before my parents were born.

I've been finding this interesting & love the Randy picked up my post! My husband just told me he know four of his great-grandparents, so I think I'll do the challenge with him. As I said, I didn't meet any of mine, either. But, my daughter has been blessed to know four of hers!
