  1. Hi! I was checking my maternal ancestry today, filling in blanks, and just for fun I went as far back as possible with my granmother's paternal lineage - the Mendenhalls! I found it fascinating that back in England the name had originally been Mildenhall. I have been interested in that line because of Captain Thomas Mendenhall - well known during the American Revolution for flying the first American flag in a foreign port. I am descended from him via THREE generations carrying the name of one of his buddies: Benjamin Franklin Mendenhall No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3. I have inherited a few physical attributes from those Mendenhalls, via my grandmother and my mother: tall and thin, good hair that doesn't fall out, and big front teeth, which even both of my sons inherited!
