I just started using Roots Magic 6-- in the past I've used Ancestry.com's downloadable one you can buy and then I've used My Heritage but I didn't like that one.
b) Which online family trees have information submitted by you- in either a separate online tree?

I have a subscription for Ancestry.com but it was a subscription that I WON - a 6 month world membership.

Average per week- 21 hours

none- sadly

Average per month- 15 hours

none- sadly- I've never been to one :(

I'm not familiar with WikiTree - I'll have to look that up. I hope you find both a repository & a society you can go to! They are big helps. What about a local Family History Center where you can view microfilms?
